Better Exports, Smoother Editing, Faster Everything

We've been obsessing over the details — sharper exports, smarter speed controls, and a much lighter memory footprint. Here's what's new.

Your exports just got a serious upgrade

If you've ever zoomed into part of your screen recording and noticed the export looked softer than the preview — that's fixed. Canvas zoom exports now render at the same quality you see in the editor. No more "why does this look blurry in my final video?" moments.

We also fixed bitrate scaling for high-resolution exports. 4K videos now export with the bitrate they deserve, so your footage stays crisp and detailed at every resolution.

Oh, and that occasional black flash at the very end of an exported video? Gone.

Speed up your video without ruining your music

Speed regions are great for skipping through slow parts of a demo or adding dramatic slow-motion. But previously, your background music would speed up and slow down right along with the video — not ideal.

Now, imported audio and music tracks keep their original tempo regardless of speed changes in the video. Your carefully chosen soundtrack stays exactly how it should sound.

The editor also shows you the actual exported duration when speed regions are active, so there are no surprises between what you see and what you export.

We cut memory usage dramatically

We went through the entire rendering pipeline and found places where the app was using far more memory than it needed to. The result:

  • Exports that previously consumed several gigabytes of RAM now stay well under control

  • The welcome screen loads faster and uses a fraction of the memory it used to

  • Project thumbnails are now loaded smartly — sized for your screen, cached efficiently, and never reloaded unnecessarily

You probably won't notice these changes directly — and that's the point. Everything just runs smoother, especially on longer projects or when working with multiple recordings.

Better diagnostics when you need help

If you ever run into an export issue and use "Share with Developer," the diagnostic logs now capture every step of the export process in detail. This means we can pinpoint problems faster and get you a fix sooner.

Small things that matter

  • Project thumbnails are now stored inside your .studio project file, keeping your folders tidy

  • Fixed a rare crash on the welcome screen when multiple projects shared similar names

  • Audio track boundaries on the timeline are now easier to see and interact with

This update is all about polish — making the things you already love about Highlight Studio work better, faster, and more reliably. As always, we'd love to hear what you think.
