Recording Mobile App Demos with iOS Device Capture

Capture your iPhone or iPad screen and wrap it in a realistic device frame for stunning mobile app demos.

Showcase Your Mobile App Like a Pro

Showing off a mobile app with a shaky phone recording or a plain screen mirror does not do your work justice. Highlight Studio lets you capture your iPhone or iPad screen directly via USB and wrap it in a beautiful, realistic device frame.

Connect Your Device

Plug your iPhone or iPad into your Mac with a USB cable. Open Highlight Studio and select your iOS device as the recording source. The app detects it automatically and displays your device screen in the preview.

Start recording and interact with your app as you normally would. Highlight Studio captures the screen in full resolution.

Add a Device Frame

After recording, open the Device Frame settings in the inspector. This is what transforms a plain screen capture into a realistic product shot:

  • Choose from models like iPhone 14, iPhone 16 Pro, or iPad Pro.
  • Pick a device color that fits your brand or the app's aesthetic.
  • Set the orientation to portrait or landscape.
  • Add a subtle drop shadow for depth.
  • Toggle the notch and status bar visibility.

Style the Background

A mobile demo looks best with a clean, styled background behind the device frame. Use the canvas settings to set a gradient or solid color background. Try one of the built-in gradient presets like Ocean Blue or Cosmic Purple for a polished look.

Edit and Enhance

Just like desktop recordings, you can trim clips, add zoom effects to highlight specific UI interactions, and use annotations to call out important elements. Add subtitles if your demo includes narration.

Export for Social Media

Mobile app demos are perfect for social media. Switch the aspect ratio to 9:16 for Instagram Stories, TikTok, or YouTube Shorts. Export as MP4 for video platforms, or as a GIF for embedding in tweets and documentation.

The result is a professional mobile app demo that looks like it came from a design agency, not a screen recording tool.
