System Requirements and Permissions

Highlight Studio runs on macOS and requires certain system permissions to function properly.

macOS Permissions

When you first launch Highlight Studio, you will be prompted to grant the following permissions:

  • Screen Recording - Required to capture your screen content. Go to System Settings > Privacy & Security > Screen Recording and enable Highlight Studio.
  • Accessibility - Required for cursor detection and tracking during recordings. Go to System Settings > Privacy & Security > Accessibility and enable Highlight Studio.
  • Microphone - Required if you want to record voiceover or narration audio. Go to System Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone.
  • Camera - Required if you want to include a face cam overlay. Go to System Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera.

Hardware

  • A Mac with Apple Silicon or Intel processor
  • For iOS device recording: an iPhone or iPad connected via USB
  • A microphone (built-in or external) for voiceover recording
  • A camera (built-in or external) for face cam overlay
