Opening Videos with a Device Frame

Automatic Device Frame Detection

When you open a portrait video (9:16 aspect ratio) in Highlight Studio, the app automatically detects it and wraps it in a realistic iPhone device frame. This works great for:

  • iOS Simulator recordings
  • iPhone screen recordings received from teammates
  • Any vertical video you want to present in a device mockup

How It Works

  1. Click Open Video on the welcome screen, or use File > Open Video.
  2. Select any .mov or .mp4 file.
  3. If the video is portrait (taller than wide), Highlight Studio automatically applies a device frame and sets the project to 9:16 aspect ratio.
  4. You can change the device model, color, and other frame settings in the Device Frame panel.

Choosing a Different Device

After opening, go to the Device Frame settings in the inspector panel. You can switch between various iPhone models and colors to match your needs.

Landscape Videos

Landscape (16:9) videos open normally without a device frame — they're treated as standard screen recordings.
