Recording Your Screen
Recording Your Screen
Highlight Studio lets you capture your screen in several ways to fit your workflow.
Recording Sources
- Full Screen - Capture everything visible on a selected display.
- Specific Window - Record a single application window. You can also exclude certain windows from the capture using the window exclusion filter.
- iOS Device - Record your iPhone or iPad screen directly by connecting it to your Mac via USB. Highlight Studio will detect the device automatically.
Starting a Recording
- Open Highlight Studio from your menu bar or dock.
- Select your recording source (screen, window, or iOS device).
- Configure your audio and camera settings (see related articles).
- Optionally enable Hide Desktop Icons for a cleaner capture.
- Click the record button or use the keyboard shortcut to begin.
During Recording
While recording, Highlight Studio captures your screen content along with cursor position data. This cursor data is later used to generate automatic zoom suggestions and render cursor effects in your final video.
Stopping the Recording
Click the stop button in the menu bar or use the keyboard shortcut. Your recording will open automatically in the editor, ready for editing.
